Words of Hokushinan
A Dialogue Beyond Time and Space, A Word That Opens the Future
Sometimes, a single encounter with a few words can change the course of a life.
Words of Hokushinan is a series that enters into dialogue with timeless words drawn from Budo, education, philosophy, history, and culture, seeking to carry their wisdom into the future.
Here, I share not only thoughts born from my own lifelong journey in martial arts, teaching, international exchange, and everyday life, but also memorable words left by martial artists, philosophers, educators, and other remarkable figures throughout history.
Great words do not belong only to the age in which they were spoken.
Even after decades or centuries, they continue to inspire, challenge, and encourage those who encounter them.
For that reason, I approach these words as conversation partners, reflecting on them through my own experiences in Budo and in life.
The reflections presented here are not intended to be definitive historical or academic interpretations.
Rather, they are personal reflections and interpretive readings shaped by my experiences as a martial artist and educator. They are offered as one possible perspective and as an invitation to further dialogue.
Each reader brings different experiences, values, and questions.
I hope these pages encourage you to engage in your own dialogue with these timeless words and to discover meanings that resonate with your own journey.
May Words of Hokushinan become a place where wisdom transcends time and space, illuminating new paths for the future.
