About the IBMA Membership System
IBMA (International Budo Man Development Association) offers several types of membership according to each member’s purpose and level of involvement.
Those who wish to study Budo, those interested in IBMA’s philosophy, Budo education, and research, those who wish to participate in IBMA activities and management, and those who wish to support IBMA may participate in ways appropriate to their respective interests and roles.
The IBMA membership system is not simply a system for accessing services. It is part of the foundation for studying, researching, and practicing Budo, and for passing on the knowledge and experience gained through these activities to future generations.
Membership Categories

Associate Member
Associate Membership is for those interested in IBMA activities, Budo education, and Budo research.
There is no membership fee for Associate Members.
Associate Members may access:
- Associate Member content in the Digital Karate Budo Textbook
- IBMA news and event information
- Public videos and articles
- Other educational content provided for Associate Members
Associate Membership is the basic membership category for those who wish to connect with IBMA and begin exploring its Budo education and research activities.
General Member
General Membership is for those who support the philosophy and activities of IBMA and wish to study Karate and Budo on a continuing basis.
General Members may access the Digital Karate Budo Textbook, video library, educational and study materials, members-only content, and other services provided by IBMA.
Membership fees and other details are determined in accordance with the applicable membership regulations.
Regular Member
Regular Members support the purposes and philosophy of IBMA and participate actively in the management and activities of the organization.
The rights and responsibilities of Regular Members, including participation in General Meetings and voting rights, are governed by the Articles of Association and applicable regulations of IBMA.
Supporting Member
Supporting Membership is for individuals, corporations, and organizations that support the philosophy and activities of IBMA and wish to contribute to its development.
Support received from Supporting Members is used for IBMA activities, including Budo education and research, international exchange, human development, and social contribution activities.
The Digital Karate Budo Textbook and IBMA Membership
The IBMA Digital Karate Budo Textbook is one of the educational and learning services provided by IBMA to its members and supporters.
Pages designated for public access may be viewed without membership registration.
Members may access additional content according to their membership category and eligibility.
Associate Members may access content designated for Associate Members, while General Members and Regular Members may access a broader range of Digital Karate Budo Textbook materials, video library content, educational resources, and other learning materials.
Founding Member Program
“Founding Member” is not a separate membership category.
It is a special designation or program applicable to eligible General Members during the initial development period of IBMA’s renewed membership system and educational activities.
