About IBMA
What is IBMA?
IBMA (International Budo Human Development Association) is an international educational and research organization dedicated to the philosophy:

Is IBMA a karate style or governing organization?
No.
IBMA is neither a karate style nor a governing federation.
We respect the diversity of martial arts traditions while promoting education, research, and international cooperation through Budo.
Can people from outside Japan join?
Yes.
IBMA welcomes members from all countries and regions.
We are committed to developing a global learning community and will continue expanding our multilingual educational resources.
Membership
Who can become a member?
Anyone who supports the philosophy and objectives of IBMA is welcome to join, regardless of age, nationality, or martial arts experience.
What do General Members receive?
General Members have access to:
- Digital Karate & Budo Textbook
- Video Library
- Members-only learning content
- Educational resources
- Future learning materials and updates
What is the difference between a General Member and a Voting Member?
General Membership is intended for learning and educational participation.
Voting Members also participate in the governance and development of IBMA through:
- General Assembly participation
- Voting rights
- Committee activities
- Organizational projects
What is the Founding Member Plan?
During approximately the first year after the launch of the Digital Karate & Budo Textbook, IBMA will operate a First Development Period.
Those who register as General Members during this period will receive Founding Member pricing, recognizing their support in the early development of the educational platform.
Digital Karate & Budo Textbook
What is the Digital Karate & Budo Textbook?
It is an online educational platform designed for the systematic study of Karate and Budo.
The textbook combines written lessons, photographs, illustrations, and instructional videos to support lifelong learning.
Is the textbook already complete?
No.
The Digital Karate & Budo Textbook is a continuously evolving educational project.
New content will be added and existing material refined as our educational research progresses.
Are instructional videos included?
Yes.
Technical demonstrations and educational videos will be published progressively for General Members.
Learning
Is this suitable for beginners?
Yes.
The curriculum is designed to guide learners step by step, making it suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners.
Can practitioners from other martial arts participate?
Absolutely.
IBMA welcomes practitioners from all martial arts styles who wish to deepen their understanding of Budo through education and research.
Will new learning materials continue to be added?
Yes.
The Digital Karate & Budo Textbook and related educational resources will continue to grow through ongoing research and development.
Payments
How are membership fees paid?
Membership fees are expected to be paid through secure online payment methods, including credit cards.
Available payment options will be explained during the registration process.
