This is the official application page for organizations, dojos, and clubs seeking either cooperation with IBMA or affiliation with IBMA KYOKUSHIN KAI.
Individual membership in IBMA and applications by organizations or dojos are separate procedures. Individuals join IBMA through membership registration, while organizations and dojos apply for cooperation with IBMA or affiliation with IBMA KYOKUSHIN KAI.
Two Application Categories
- Application for Organization or Dojo Cooperation with IBMA
- Application for Affiliation with IBMA KYOKUSHIN KAI
The same application form is used for both categories. Please select the appropriate category under “Application Type” in the form.
An organization or dojo approved for affiliation with IBMA KYOKUSHIN KAI will, in principle, also be recognized as an organization or dojo cooperating with IBMA. Therefore, applicants for affiliation with IBMA KYOKUSHIN KAI do not need to submit a separate application for cooperation with IBMA.
Important Information
This is not an individual IBMA membership registration form.
Any IBMA General Membership registrations required for affiliation with IBMA KYOKUSHIN KAI must be completed separately and voluntarily by each individual concerned.
Registration as an IBMA Supporting Member is optional. It is not a requirement for affiliation with IBMA KYOKUSHIN KAI, certification, or renewal.
Application Categories
1. Organization or Dojo Cooperation with IBMA
This category is intended for organizations and dojos that support the principles of IBMA and wish to cooperate in Budo education, research, instructor development, international exchange, social contribution, or related activities, regardless of Budo discipline or style.
The application will be reviewed in accordance with the applicable standards. An approved organization or dojo may be recognized as an “IBMA Cooperating Organization” or “IBMA Cooperating Dojo.”
Recognition as an IBMA Cooperating Organization or Cooperating Dojo does not, by itself, constitute affiliation with or certification by IBMA KYOKUSHIN KAI.
2. Affiliation with IBMA KYOKUSHIN KAI
This category is intended for organizations and dojos that value the history, spirit, fundamentals, kata, techniques, and training systems of Kyokushin Karate and wish to cooperate in their preservation, study, development, and transmission.
After affiliation, each organization or dojo will, in principle, retain its own name, history, representative, teaching policies, training content, membership system, finances, and day-to-day operational independence.
After establishing an appropriate record of activity and satisfying the applicable standards concerning instruction, qualified personnel, safety management, ethical conduct, and organizational operations, an Affiliated Organization or Affiliated Dojo may later apply for certification.
IBMA Individual Membership Requirements for Affiliation
An organization or dojo applying for affiliation with IBMA KYOKUSHIN KAI must, in principle, have at least five associated IBMA General Members.
If it is difficult to have five General Members at the time of the initial application, the organization or dojo may apply with at least three General Members when all of the following conditions are satisfied:
- At least three associated individuals have completed IBMA General Member registration.
- A plan is submitted to increase the number to at least five by the first affiliation renewal.
- Approval is obtained from IBMA KYOKUSHIN KAI.
An IBMA Regular Member is not required at the affiliation application stage.
However, when an Affiliated Organization or Affiliated Dojo later applies for certification, in principle, at least one representative or IBMA Liaison must be an IBMA Regular Member.
IBMA General Member Registration
Each individual must register as an IBMA General Member voluntarily. An organization or dojo must not register any person against that person’s wishes.
IBMA Supporting Membership
Organizations and corporations wishing to support IBMA’s Budo education, research, human development, international exchange, and social-contribution activities may register as IBMA Supporting Members.
IBMA Supporting Membership is optional. It is not a requirement for affiliation with IBMA KYOKUSHIN KAI, certification, or renewal.
Selecting an intention to register as a Supporting Member in the application form does not complete Supporting Member registration. If registration is requested, the IBMA Office will provide separate instructions after reviewing the application.
